The greatest road in the world. Hands down. It's unfortunate that it looks 50% slower on video.

9:00 Subaru with stickers on the side. Rally Subaru?

9:40 Mini test car with camouflage on the right.

I'm lucky to be within 20 min. of this road, on a quiet weekday night it's a magical place. In the winter the road past the campgrounds will have a bit of snow on them which is a treat for us Angelenos.

Kinja'd!!!

Just try not to be too much of an ass as there are a ton of blind curves, motorcyclists, cops, tourists, families, etc on weekends (take it to the track, Takumi).

How is the police presence up there? I live in Orange County myself so it isn't too far of a drive. I saw a sign saying 45 MPH speed limit, generally it is 55 for a road like that. You can usually have plenty of fun under 55 for most canyon/mountain roads

Nice driving by the way. Good quick pace, but you never went over your limits or put others in danger. I would have driven pretty much in the same manner. Glad to see you are enjoying your Miata! (I think)

I make a point to not put anyone in danger, ever. The only tomfoolery was the handbrake turn in the beginning. I think the car got squirrelly once in my two hour drive. Some of the corners are more hairpin-like than you might think. They snake around ridges so it's impossible to see where they end.

I've been to that road twice. The first time was last Saturday and the second was Friday. Last Saturday I saw one police officer at the fire station partway down the road. I was behind slower traffic so there was no problem. Also, oncoming traffic flashed to warn. Friday I did not see a single cop. If you have a scanner you're more than OK.

Someone else commented that the area generally has more police presence during the weekend, when families are out at the campgrounds on the eastern half of the road.
